Jon Hotchkiss has been a successful television comedy writer, producer and show runner for more than 15 years. He has 10 Emmy nominations.
In the spring of 2007, Jon created the show “My Dad is Better than Your Dad” which aired Monday nights on NBC. The show is produced by Mark Burnett, Reveille and Hotchkiss Industries. Jon was also the executive producer and creator of “Smartest Guy in Town,” for GSN. “SGIT” is a documentary style game show shot on location in small towns across the US.
In addition, Jon was the Co-Executive Producer of the documentary-comedy series, “Penn & Teller: Bullshit,” for two seasons. Along with his producing duties, Jon was also a writer for the program, having written the Emmy nominated episodes on Circumcision and Profanity, as well as the ones on The Boy Scouts, The Death Penalty and Recycling, among others.
In 2005, Jon was the Executive Producer and Creator of the Animal Planet pilot, “Best in Town,” also a comedy-documentary.
Jon was one of the original writers on “Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher,” where he worked for four years, “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” and the “Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn” and has also written for two network series: “Inside Schwartz” (NBC) and “Buddy Faro” (CBS). He has also written six stories for HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” as well as written for several Comedy Central specials and numerous primetime reality shows.
In addition, Jon has contributed to three New York Times best-selling books by former California gubernatorial candidate, Arianna Huffington and recently co-authored a book with the on-air staff of “Air America Radio,” which reached #4 on the Times Best Seller list.
And finally, Jon is also developing several other projects and is at work on a feature length documentary that examines Obscenity in America, the FCC, the 1st Amendment and Censorship.
Jon lives in Sherman Oaks with his wife, two children and two dogs.
