– Originally from France, now a United States Citizen.
– Ironically, many Americans do not know that the Statue of Liberty was built by Eiffel, the same one that built the Eiffel Tower.
– Not too long ago in Cobb, County Georgia they attempted to put stickers in school science books about evolution being 'just a theory'.
– Some people get drawn into the idea of 'micro' vs. 'macro' evolution, however, they are the same thing.
– It is kind of surprising that, still, on the Eastern coast of the USA there are schools which promote anti-science and refuse to teach evolution.
– He wrote the book as a response to the level of anti-science he has been exposed to in the United States.
– Most of the 'New Atheists' who wrote many books about the lack of belief in God, did not touch on the idea of the Soul.
– Julian starts his book by touching on the odd book by a neuroscientist, 'Proof of Heaven', which is highly implausible.
– Major media outlets in the United States released headlines saying that there is now evidence and 'proof' that heaven exists.
– Neil DeGrasse Tyson has said many times that people can talk all they want about science and atheism, but we need to figure out why there are so many scientists who are still believers.
– Over the past decade there has been a growing group of scientists who have been looking into the 'Cognitive Science of Religion'.
– Attempting to get the public to understand the reality of soul beliefs is not unlike the Copernican and Darwinian revolutions.
– In the past there were different types of souls, like free souls, surviving souls, ego souls, etc….
– Not surprising, many people are now looking to consciousness, since it is the new frontier of the science of human minds.
– One way people are starting to come at the issue is by resurrecting the faulty ideas of 'dualism'.
– Sometimes people will refer to ideas such as dualism when discussing 'The Ghost in the Machine', which came from a book, 'The Concept of the Mind', released in 1949.
– It isn't anyones fault that reality seems to have a liberal bias to it.
– The only part of the book that anyone may have a case for there to be any 'mocking' could be the highlighting of the audience reaction during the Presidential Debates when Perry answered about his high Execution rate while in office.
– Capital Punishment makes no sense when you actually think about it, the only real reason for it is a twisted sense of revenge.
– The acceptance for capital punishment in todays world may be connected with our misunderstanding of 'free will'.
